![]() But if this is not the case for you then don't force it, there are many other great beginner guitars out there. To me it was a great guitar to start off with and it was very versatile, allowing me to try out any genre I wanted. ![]() It definitely feels better to play, but it should as its about 10x the price of my pacifica.Ī pacifica was my first guitar and the one I learnt most stuff on, I get the sharp edges feel but I can't say it ever bothered me. I'd say it has a more premium feel and a slightly larger grip, but moving across the fretboard is easy once you get used to it. So the wider neck hasn't been a problem whatsoever, it's still much closer to a pacifica than an acoustic guitar. Even songs with some uncomfortable chord shapes (Stop This Train by John Mayer for example), work without issues. ![]() Now I'm a guy with slightly larger than average hands and I find the PRS very easy to play, reaching over or across the neck hasn't been an issue at all. I was worried that it could be difficult to play faster or that the reach above the neck would be limited. But I agree this was something I thought about as well when deciding guitars. Well the best option is obviously if you could try it out and get a feel of the neck. Best thing is trying one out for yourself, but in Sweden they were pretty much impossible to find in stores outside of Stockholm/Gothenburg in my experience. If you're looking for a hollowbody guitar I strongly recommend you consider this one, key factors being of course if you need the piezo pickup. I was worried as I've tried both the PRS SE custom 22 and SE hollowbody mccarty in stores before, and they didn't feel very good to play at all, but it's night and day compared to the SE Hollowbody II. The piezo pickup makes the guitar more versatile and I find myself using it a lot, sounds great.Ībout the SE version, I haven't tried any from their expensive lineup, but I've never been too impressed by PRS up until this. I switched from a cheap, used Yamaha Pacifica that I've had for the last 5 years, it's a significant increase in quality. The acoustic sound is loud enough that sometimes I don't even plug it in if I'm just going to play for a quick while. The build quality is great and it feels fantastic to play. I settled on the Hollowbody II and it's breathtaking, both in looks and comfort. When I was choosing a guitar this summer I looked through posts from previous users on this sub quite a lot, so I figured I could pitch in to help as well.
